Brief introduction of NGO FRIENDS:  “NGO FRIENDS” means “Friends of NGOs”. Founded in 2008, it is a supportive organization providing NGOs with financial management services including financial management training, consultation, audit and research of tools. The slogan of NGO FRIENDS is: Focus on the Financial Field, and Provide Professional Support. Its financial management services are welcomed by NGOs, and their professional lecturers win praise in the industry. It ranked first in GTI (China Grassroots Transparency Index) integrated rating among nearly 1000 non-profit organizations in China.

Bridge Plan - Capacity Building on Financial Management

There are currently a large number of non-profit organizations working in China, and most of them are small-scale or startups whose annual income is no more than 300,000 Yuan(about＄ 48,150). These kinds of organizations don’t have professional financial staff, and their part-time financial staff are usually unable to meet the basic financial management needs; the lack of professionals and startup-focused methods and tools make it difficult for these organizations to achieve their financial goals. Based on its financial management experience in non-profit organizations, NGO FRIENDS developed a toolkit for startups without financial professional or lacking of financial capacity, it includes baselines, methods and tools of financial management.

To have a better study of the toolkit’s usefulness, NGO FRIENDS will promote and use it through the “Qiaopan Plan” organized by the Western Sunshine Foundation. Five participants in this plan will be trained one-on-one by NGO FRIENDS. In addition to using the toolkit, the service will last one year to build and implement fundamental financial system that meets the daily operational needs of small organizations without professional financial staff. With the feedback from 5 on-trial organizations and other 30Bridge Plan participants, NGO FRIENDS will also make efforts to improve the toolkit for application in a large scale, thus to help improve NGOs’ professional capacity on finance management.
